‘Thy Word Is a Lamp unto My Feet’

When I don’t have a hymn request to fulfill, I just go with whatever first pops into my head in the morning: from Psalm 119, Thy Word Is a Lamp unto My Feet. Can’t explain why, but I found the artwork in this version particularly moving. Especially that last image, of the lighted path.

Light our path, O Lord our God.

  1. Couldn’t go wrong with this one. It has been one of my favorites, and was one of my first prayers after receiving salvation years ago.

  2. Scripture put to music – isn’t that what the psalms were originally? Where would we be without God’s written word to guide us? – probable lost as a goose.

  3. This hymn always reminds me of a Sunday morning television program called “A Lamp Unto My Feet’ hosted by Bishop Fulton J. Sheen. I’m not even sure if it was just a local program. Honestly I can’t remember much about the show but the title always stayed with me.

    1. Someone in my house must have too – probably my grandma. I think I was a bit too young to pay attention. I do remember Bishop Sheen though 🙂
