Small Gifts of God

God has given us great gifts that can hardly be imagined–His only begotten Son, for starters–but He has also given us small gifts that get us through the day. I was thinking of a few of them, and being thankful for them, as I took my shower this morning.

A nice meal.

A good laugh.

The antics of a kitten or a puppy.

Remembering the taste of the black raspberries my grandpa used to grow in his back yard.

The way you feel after successfully completing a hard job of work, and knowing that you’ve done it well.

But of course we could do this all day. And that’s a gift, too. Thank you, Lord.

  1. Amen, and every day, I thank Him for a home, food, clothes, and most of all for Yeshua and a fresh start in His kingdom.

  2. My own daily prayer of thanksgiving has always been, “Thank you for creating me, redeeming me, and making me a Christian.” But yes, there are also those little things all through the day. Sometimes we have to train ourselves to notice them, and to remember them.

  3. That picture really touches me. I was greeted in a similar manner by a lovely Siamese, just an hour or so ago.

  4. Giving thanks in general and mentioning blessings in specificly is a great way of life. In fact, the Bible calls it “The Way.” The smell of a freshly mowed lawn, watching squirrels navigate tree branches, Bluejays barking as they respond to your whistle that peanuts await them on top of the privacy fence, opening your email account and to find lots of posts on Duigon’s Blog, to name a few.
