Birthday Greetings: Joshua

See the source image

Break out the party hats and noisemakers, boys ‘n’ girls! It’s Joshua’s birthday today! He is eleventy-five! Check out his blog, “Spread the Word,” at http://www.joshuamankatoswanson.wordpress.com/ . Tell him Byron the Quokka sent you.

Here on Rottnest Island the quokkas are all whooping it up. We love the readers on this blog! And Joshua is sort of a hero here, for translating Bell Mountain into Japanese. Maybe someday he’ll translate it into Quokka, too.

P.S.–Anyone of you who’d like to get a birthday greeting here, just let us know the date so I can put it on my list. We say it enhances our fellowship.

P.P.S.–Oh, fap! The link we gave you doesn’t work. Try this instead–

  1. Aww, thank you so much for this wonderful birthday greeting, Mr. Duigon and Byron!! This post has given me a big smile on my face!! 😄

Interesting fact: Joshua in the Bible died at the ripe old age of 110. (Joshua 24:29)

    1. Byron was going to send you a bicycle, but I wouldn’t let him–I’m pretty sure the person who parked it meant to come back for it.

  2. Joshua, I can’t tell you how happy I am to send this birthday message. You are a favorite here. I pray that this day and the coming year will be filled to the brim with every blessing you could ever hope for.
    Love and shalom,

  6. The link to my blog doesn’t work because the “mankato” has to be “makoto.” Just saying.

    1. OK! I got it, thanks! Also I’m interested in the background of your family name. Do you know your name’s origin?

    2. It’s a French name: my paternal grandfather was born in Paris and came here as a boy. The name was originally “Duigou,” and you can imagine how that worked out, so he changed it to “Duigon,” in the fond and foolish hope that people would be able to pronounce it.

My mother’s side of the family all came from Germany. One of them got here just in time to be drafted into the Union army in the Civil War and get shot in the head at Chancellorsville. That wound kept him out of the battle of Gettysburg, in which his unit was wiped out on the first day.
