I was sitting outside this afternoon, writing my Newswithviews column for the week–a column about my new book, His Mercy Endureth Forever, and my Bell Mountain series in general.
I was just finishing the work when I chanced to look up: and what did I see?
A beautiful, graceful, full-grown deer trotting across the yard, only 30 or 40 feet away from my chair. She vanished around the corner of the house next door, and when I walked over to see where she was headed, I saw no sign of her. I don’t know where she went.
I took it as a sign that God was nigh, and He wanted me to know that: for which I give Him thanks.
Wow
I wonder if it was a visitor from Lintum Forest.
God does give such signs to people, for those who notice them!
A flash of beauty from God to illumine a darkening world.
We need those!
Definitely a sign for the Bell Mountain story – a deer that nobody sees but Helki the Rod.
Ryons saw the White Stag, though.
You need to come here, Les. You’d have more inspiration than you could shake a stick at.
I know it’s not like this where you and a lot of other readers live, but here in the middle of Suburbia, NJ, a walk-on by a deer is a most unusual event. I mean, it wouldn’t be a big deal if I saw them all the time. It’s the rarity that made this an event for me.
And don’t call me Les.
That is amazing, considering where you are. Deer seem to be prospering, these days.
I don’t know how they manage to live around here. Everything’s all paved over, traffic galore, nights lit up–and yet here they are.
