By Request, ‘Go Down, Moses’

Would you believe it? We used to sing this song at Y Camp. Not allowed anymore, of course. They have to protect us from the Bible.

Requested by Phoebe: Go Down, Moses, sung by the immortal Louis Armstrong.

  1. Great performance — and from the heart. It’s odd that we don’t hear any of these old spirituals any more. Maybe they’re now considered too much of a reminder of the days of slavery? And yet most of the spirituals were a defiance of slavery.

  2. I love to sing this one and pretend I have a very low voice (I’m a tenor). Louie does a good job with this one. Thanks, Phoebe for requesting it. How about “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot.”
