A Tail of Two Kitties

Sorry about the headline, but I simply couldn’t bear to let it go to waste. Maybe one of you can use it as the title of a story.

I now feel like a bad guy because I didn’t give my kittens balls of yarn. Patty likes to knit, so we usually have yarn; it just never occurred to me to share it with cats. Ours had to settle for pipe cleaners, cardboard boxes, and jingly balls. Oh, well…

  1. I never learned to knit, so I never had any yarn for my cats. They did find a lot of other things to attack, and some were funny, some not so funny, but these kitties are very cute.

  2. It’s probably not a good idea to get cats used to playing with yarn, especially when they’re unattended. Aside from the fact that they may decide that unraveling knitting projects — including finished ones — is a Good Thing, they may swallow the unraveled yarn or get tangled up in it and injure or choke themselves.

  3. Cats and yarns what a combination! I agree, there is a downside, and even a danger, because cats are known to ingest string, years, etc. which can cause serious problems. However, these videos serve to illustrate the abundant imagination that cats possess. They can turn almost anything into a source of amusement and do so almost immediately, when an opportunity presents itself. I had to laugh at the cat whom started kicking a ball of yard instantly, once it had been placed within reach. To my way of thinking, this is a perfect illustration of how imaginative cats truly are.
