‘Church to Keep Atheist Minister (???)’ (2018)

This post was notable for its comments, featuring a vain attempt to legitimize a self-professed atheist as minister to a supposedly Christian church.

Church to Keep Atheist Minister (???)

What do these people sing at worship services? Imagine? I have just made myself shudder.

But this is postmodernism: “your truth” and “my truth” and “his truth over there” all add up to no truth at all.

And that is where our popular culture has stopped and stalled.

  1. I’ve heard some really stupid ideas, but this really takes the cake. Oh, what a horror on judgement day.

  2. People confuse membership in a denomination with worship. They are not the same thing. One can find a denomination to suit their own tastes and even denominations that all but reject all scripture will still label themselves as Christian, but how meaningful is this? We answer to Jesus Christ, and if we use our membership as a way to justify ourselves as followers of Christ.

Matt 7:21 “ Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’”

Claiming to be a Christian, while teaching against the scriptures strikes me as a very bad idea.

I have personally observed cases of religions that elevated their human leaders to be on par with Christ. One small denomination comes to mind as a recent example of this, with a charismatic leader whom lived a life of luxury and self indulgence, while implying that she was a prophet. A prophet whom was more than happy to be on the receiving end of tithes. (How nice of her to be willing to accept this money on behalf of God.)

With examples like these, and many such examples exist, it’s no wonder that some people are off put and hold a dim view of any group claiming to be Christian. Such highly questionable examples whom claim to be representing Christ certainly does not represent well our Redeemer … but keeping in mind Matthew 7:21-23, the inal word on this is Christ’s. When the time comes, it will be made obvious that Christ has no part in this.

With that in mind, I would not expect that a church shepherded by an atheist will fare well.

  3. Don’t you know, our rules, laws, and morals are all social constructs from the past? We are not obligated to live by them anymore. And if you believe this, welcome to the Woke Movement launched by Satan himself.
