Delinquent Cats

I would feel very much put out if any of our cats did this with our toilet paper. None ever have. So I wonder why other cats have an urge to savage one’s toilet paper.

There is a theory that toilet paper was invented for cats and only adapted for human use in 1604, by a man who should have known better.

  1. I have seen cats that did this, but never to this extreme. If they find out the roll moves, they just have to move it.

  2. My previous cat, CoCo, used to unroll the toilet paper — but only if he thought I wasn’t cleaning out his litter box fast enough. The box was under the sink (an old-style wall-sink on legs), and if he thought I was being delinquent, he’d unroll just enough of the toilet paper to cover the top of his litter. I tried placing the TP roll with the paper coming from underneath instead of on top, but he managed anyway.

    1. Our cat Missy never went after the toilet paper, but if her litter box wasn’t as clean as she thought it should be, she let me know.
