You can’t get much farther away from the Caribbean than Fiji Island in the South Pacific. Like, they’re only separated by the widest ocean in the world.
So how does Fiji wind up with two iguana species?
These lizards have gotten kind of rare, so the Fiji government protects them.
You’d think there’d be some iguanas living on islands between Central America and Fiji, but no one’s ever seen any.
Just another mystery of Creation.
I hope that in the reign of Christ, we will learn the complete history of the earth. One possibility for at least so,e of the dispersion is that after the Flood, the climatic shock caused the Ice Age, and all of that ice resulted in lower sea levels, which may have provided easier travel. If the sea were only slightly lower, traveling from Asia to Australia, for example, would be fairly easy. I speculate that this may have been one of the reasons our Maker wanted mankind to spread out and fill the earth; it may have been time critical.
The migration of humans and animals around the earth is something I have a lot of questions about, but few solid answers. DNA is raising new questions, and pointing to surprising links between people groups. Appearances are only a small part of it.
Awesome!
What kind of iguanas do you have in Trinidad, Tammy?
Oh well there are various but I don’t know their names off the back haha ๐
I had my pet iguana for 17 years–you know I love to talk about lizards.
Really? That’s very long! Was it a he or she? ๐….. Oh yes I know you do!!! ๐
