Testing steel to forge a blade

I’m always a bit shaky when I enter the theology shop. But then it’s not about me; it’s about God’s word.

We have all, every one of us, wondered this: why does God test us so hard?

When God Tests Us

It’s awful, isn’t it? Diseases afflict us, loved ones die, our country goes to pot, we have to sit there and watch the wicked prosper… What can we do but pray for strength? And for courage. And for faith. Above all, faith.

Because who has enough?

  1. See Psalm 66:
    10 For thou, O God, hast tested us;
    thou hast tried us as silver is tried.*
    11 Thou didst bring us into the net;
    thou didst lay affliction on our loins;
    12 thou didst let men ride over our heads;
    we went through fire and through water;
    yet thou hast brought us forth to a spacious place.

    * Silver is “tried” (refined) by putting it through the fire seven times.

  2. For a starter the whole world has been cursed since the fall of Adam & Eve. Our soul intuitively knows the world is not as it is suppose to be. We travail within and even the creation itself travails until the revealing of the sons of God.
