Well, they’ve sawed down all the trees. The shady spot where I sit to write my books… is gone. They haven’t cleaned up the mess yet, either, so there’s nowhere else to put my chair.
I’ve written 15 books, sitting there. I don’t write fiction indoors because a) it’s nuisance phone calls every few minutes, and b) it’s good for my soul to be out there with the birds and squirrels, grass and flowers and trees, God’s creation all around me. There’s no substitute for that.
Turning this place into a desert, one tree at a time… or, in this case, all at once.
Why have they cut down all the trees? Are they preparing for new construction or widening of the street, or what? Or have the tree roots grown into the water pipes or something?
These trees weren’t on the street. Some of them had large branches in bad shape that were bound to fall on the tenants’ cars. But instead of removing just those branches, they took down all the trees.
I’m sorry to hear that, Lee.
Man sorry to hear that; I know you love writing outdoors
They’ve turned this place into Mordor.
Sad
Omg, I am SO sorry Lee! How devastating! I hope you can find another outdoor oasis to write in (or create one indoors somehow). I know how important it is to have a space like that.
Indoors, it’s nuisance stupid phone calls all day long. And now they’ve wrecked my outdoor office. Orcs all over the place. I was already having trouble racing against the advent of cold weather, hoping to finish my book by mid-November. I’m not catching many breaks, these days.
I really am sorry and pray that you can find another peaceful place to write! It’s crazy you get so many calls it disrupts daily life. Are they coming in on a land line or cell phone? We ditched our house phone years ago and haven’t missed it. On our cell phones we have a privacy option so that they will only audibly ring if someone saved in our contact list is calling. Anyone else can leave a message (or not) and I can call them back if I want. Maybe that would be a good option for you guys. The amount if spam calls you get seems intolerable! That would make me batty.
Yeah, we keep thinking about doing that. But I don’t need more technology in my life. *Sigh*
Cell phones are easy technology at least, unlike computers. And maybe in this case would save your sanity… I probably would have just ripped the phone out of the wall by now.
“Hello! This Jake from Discover!”
Every doggone day.
I think it might be worth the grief. I have my phone setup so that only calls from people in my phonebook ring through. Likewise, my office number rings on my phone, but if I don’t know the caller, they can leave a message, or their call never happened. It’s harsh, but the only way to operate, these days.
BTW, you can move your existing phone number to a mobile phone.
I thought they were trimming the trees, not destroying them. What did those trees every do to them but turn their CO2 into O2.
They could have sawed off the iffy branches that were likely to fall. But they turned the whole place into a desert.
