If Jesus Christ Himself is not the authority here… who is?
This has been rumored throughout this month, but the controversy ramped up this week when Vladimir Putin mentioned it in a speech (https://en.topwar.ru/211456-vpervye-soglasen-s-putinym-britanskie-chitateli-o-trebovanii-anglikanskoj-cerkvi-genderno-nejtralno-obraschatsja-k-bogu.html).
Is the Anglican Church in Britain about to go overboard with “gender-neutral language” and remove the words “Our Father” from the Lord’s Prayer? We keep hearing that the church is “considering alternative ways to refer to God in the masculine form.” Self-appointed “fact checkers” have been energetically denying it.
Do we need to point out that Jesus Himself often referred to God as “the Father”? Was Jesus wrong? Could Christ be wrong and a bunch of addled “go-along-to-get-along” churchmen be… right?
I very much doubt it.
Editing scripture for political correctness sounds like a recipe for disaster.
It’s probably also a good way to incur a curse.
I once visited a Bible Study group where someone did that. I didn’t return, after hearing such a thing.
What did they take it upon themselves to change?
Isaiah 54:13 “All your sons will be taught by the LORD;
And the well-being of your sons will be great.” Someone commented that all your sons AND DAUGHTERS will be taught by the LORD.
I don’t object to both sons and daughters being taught by the LORD, but I object to someone seeking to correct scripture.
I guess they think they outrank God.
There’s a lot of that going around.
Sounds similar to the way our current crop of politicians no longer adhere to the u.S. Constitution.
