Today we started our annual project of the Christmas tree. Last year I tried to do everything on the same day, Dec. 24, and just plum ran out of gas before I could add the lights. So this year the job is going to be done in three stages, and today was Day One. (I’m sure this used to be a lot easier, 20 years ago.)
From where I’m sitting now, the tree looks slightly crooked. But Robbie’s already cuddled under it, and that has to count for something.
Day Two, put on the lights. We still use a string of lights from my grandpa’s general store, circa 1930. They still work.
Day Three, add decorations. That was the part that wiped me out last year.
I think this means that I can rest on Christmas Eve.
Maybe we can have a cyber-Christmas party. You’ll all be welcome.
Cyber party at Duigan’s, I’m all in. I will bring my roasted buttered and salted pecans. I can’t do my tree all in one day like I used to either, but it is worth it.
