Have we lost our capacity for shame?
I wonder if we’ll ever get our town’s Christmas parade back. But why should we? Since when do things get better? “Winter Festival.” Hot dog. And get a load of this.
Our “annual Animal Spirit Guide Event.” Every time I heard the word “event,” I cringe: someone’s gonna try to sell you something. We’ve got a special deal on Neo-pagan claptrap! Two past lives for the price of one!
But is there pushback in the air? Something tells me 2024 is make or break for all concerned.
What utter hogwash. Since the Babel dispersion, various people groups have followed their own beliefs, and many of these journeys have been, to say the least, unfruitful. Proverbs 14:12 tells us:
“There is a way that seems right to a man,
but its end is the way to death.”
No truer words have ever been spoken. Look at society today, where people in their early prime lose their teeth to methamphetamine. Drug abuse is rampant, and it doesn’t bring one a better life. But some people today are so determined to reject anything that mainstream society considered good, that they will even revert to foolish superstitions of the past. We can learn by observing animals, but that doesn’t make them our guides.
Animals can teach us about work, and working towards tangible goals. One need look no further than an anthill for find such wisdom, but that is teaching by example, and is certainly not a sprit guide. As much as I admire animals, we need to look to our Maker, and His Son as our source of guidance.
“Go to the ant, thou sluggard: consider her ways, and be wise.” –King Solomon
Exactly. Sadly, there seem to be a lot of people these days who lack even the intellect of an ant.
The Hebrew Republics in the Book of Judges was one of the things our founding fathers studied in giving us our Constitution, and what happened to them? Everyone did what was right in their own eyes – which led to kings ruling over them. Sound familiar?
