Is it any wonder that certain aspects of our popular culture, being Godless, suck out loud? Like, for instance, a creeping hysteria, especially among young women, about turning 30. It’s stopped creeping and started galloping on various social media platforms (https://nypost.com/2024/01/12/lifestyle/gen-z-paralyzed-with-fear-of-turning-30-as-unattractive-hags/).
And voila! We’ve learned a new word! “Unalive”–as in “a desire to unalive in their 30s…” I think it means “die.” Humanism has long been in the process of morphing into a death cult. It needs a new vocabulary for that.
They don’t want to turn into “unattractive hags.” They splurge on “beauty” products. Ten-year-old girls want to buy makeup.
A lot of them say they don’t know how to face “life after college.” Like, what comes next? Does anything come next?
You can’t buy, you can’t earn by studying, the hope that God gives as a free gift, obtained for us by Jesus Christ: regeneration of the soul and body, and eternal life. All the cosmetics in the world won’t get you there.
But believing in God and believing His word… will.
I lot of social media content makes have to use euphemisms like “unalive” to avoid bring flagged by censors and having their videos taken down or demonetized.

You’re not the only one who’s run into this.
I was thinking of it as just another euphemism.
I follow a number of YouTubers that have been targeted. It was a big problem during the lockdowns. So many of us had to use alternative words.
I started to give examples, but I realized these words are still flagged. The last thing I want is for your blog to get shut down over a comment with too many of them!
I know what you mean about the typos. I occasionally made some before, but since this
automatic stuff happened, it has multiplied.
Who can really blame the younger people. They have been bombarded for years with increasing criticism of older people and their appearances and actions. Deplorable.
I don’t think that the resistance to aging is anything new, it was going on in my day, but the response to it has changed. We tried to stay fit, ate wisely, although the high carb approach being doled out by the gov’ gave us a generation with a very high rate of Type II diabetes. Decades later, I still watch my diet, exercise quite regularly, and do every reasonable thing in my power to take care of my health. I routinely pass for 10-15 years younger than my age, and I feel great, as in Tony the Tiger GRRRRREAT!
I, like all humans, am part of a fallen race, living in a badly flawed world. I am aging, and unless Christ returns, I will eventually die. A generation raised on the Bible knows these things, and while my generation, to a great extent, rebelled against the spiritual guidance of our parents, many came back to the faith, over time. Knowing the fallen state of the human race, and the hope for redemption, doesn’t prevent aging, but it makes it understandable, and bearable.
Some of my peers are feeling the effects of age to a greater extent than others. I lost a friend to cancer, when he was 59, and I was 56. A couple of my friends are suffering chronic health problems, these days. I remember them as strong young men who cut a dashing figure, but time has passed.
I never wanted to age. There were some millennialists in my family who were convinced that the return of Christ was imminent, and died at a ripe old age, still waiting. Christ will return in due time, but until then, we have work to do, and if there are a few lines on my face and my beard turns white … we’ll, there’s still work to be done.
As far as beauty is concerned, I don’t find much of today’s youth to be doing so well. Many, obviously, do not care for their health, but even the ones that do, in many cases, seem to be off in a daze of self-centered delusion, thinking that social media standing is what really counts in life, and I find that very unattractive.
I find contemporary notions of “beauty” … well, not what I’d call beautiful.
Agreed. I prefer a more natural approach.
Yes, a woman filled with the Holy Spirit has the best cosmetic of all, at any stage of life.
