Outlandish Nooze Story Was… Satire

No, kids aren't identifying as cats: Origin of media rumour

“I am a real cat and I do not approve.”

The social media were a-buzz last year with a Mondo Bizarro nooze story about a mother suing a veterinarian for not treating her son… who “identifies as” a cat (https://www.m9.news/social-media-viral/my-son-identifies-as-a-cat-says-american-mom/)

Now we’re let in on the gag: the whole thing was a satire. Never happened.

But if you’re going to do satire, you’ll have to push the envelope farther ahead than that! Given today’s sociological climate, and all the mental illness that passes for this or that Far Left ideology, there was nothing plainly unbelievable in the story as told… by a woman with a sense of the absurd, writing a satire.

See, there had already been a few stories, not satires, reporting much the same thing: humans “identifying as” animals. Just once I would like to see the guy who identifies as an amoeba. What does he do when it’s time to split in two?

I would rather not know how far we can let this go before the country self-destructs because everybody’s loopy.

In the meantime, I guess we’d better sharpen our satire pens.
