More Climbit Chainge!

Sit here and you'll freeze your ass off! | North American ...

And it’s only a week till Easter?

Here in central New Jersey, just a week before Easter, we are freezing our nouns off. There’s been no heat in our building this weekend: couple that, yesterday, with a hard rain that was coming down too fast to freeze.

But still the freedom-eaters are out there babbling about global warming and Climbit Chainge, better pay higher taxes, give up your gas stoves, give up your cars… and you know we’ll take such good care of you! We can’t stop nuisance phone calls, but we sure as shinola can control the planet’s natural processes. And if you don’t believe it, we’ll toss you into prison!

It feels like winter here today. Old Man Winter forgot his hat and has come back to retrieve it.

Excuse me while I put on another layer of clothing.

  1. Here I am, on the 32nd parallel, in one of the hotter locales in the US, at the end of March, and my furnace has been off and on all night. The shiny new A/C unit, on its mount in my back yard hasn’t had an opportunity to show me its stuff, because heating season has dragged on longer than normal, this year. The forecast shows highs in the 50s, well off into April. I’m not complaining, but it’s obvious that this Winter (now Spring) is colder than average, and IIRC, so was last year’s.

I don’t have any problem believing that weather patterns are changing, because that is a constant. Weather is highly unpredictable, but this planet is not on the way to becoming Venus, and never will. Venus, BTW, gets 1.91 times as much solar radiation per unit of surface area as Earth. It is not, nor never has it been, habitable. Venus is actually being used as a cautionary tale of just how bad it can get, but that is less than ignorant. We live in truly stupid times.

  2. Turned cold and windy here today after very pleasant normal temperatures for this time of year. Anyone besides me tired of the old bait and switch calling global warming climate change? The earth stopped its warming trend about two decades ago – plus the oceans have not risen. Check out pictures of the Statue of Liberty in 1900 vs. today – the water level is exactly the same.

    1. Holy cow, we’re frozen half to death this weekend! No heat in our building, either. I’m actually shivering as I type this.
