Oh, the wailing and the gnashing of teeth! The CEO of the Harris Poll, back in 2019, could hardly believe his eyes and ears. Say it ain’t so, Joe!
Pollster Shocked: Young People Not So ‘Tolerant & Progressive’ After All
How could it be–LGBTQetc. poll numbers sliding ever downward? Could it possibly be that normal people are dog-tired of being hit over the head with all this “gay” stuff day after day, year in and year out?
If everyone were “gay,” the human race would go extinct. Why do we have to say that?
I haven’t seen any do-overs of this poll. I suspect Harris just can’t get the results they’re looking for.
But of course they can always invent them.
Inventing is what they do all the time. phooey on them.
The thing is, tolerance is not what they really want; they want support, which is another matter. Over the years, I’ve worked with people of all sorts, and I endeavor to be respectful and to treat people equitably, even if they do not share my moral values.
I recall one former coworker who was 180 degrees away from my views, in almost everything. She was difficult to work with, because one never knew whether she would take offense at even the most mundane of things, and my impression was that she was looking for reasons to be offended. Nonetheless, I was respectful towards her, and sought to be cooperative, in all matters.
But these days, toleration has been redefined in the minds of some people, and seems to mean something more akin to promoting all views and all lifestyles. I will not interfere in the lives of others, but I have no desire to promote everything that comes along.
When a society’s top virtue is “tolerance,” that society is in trouble.
As I see it, the left doesn’t want tolerance so much as it wants cheerleaders. If I see someone doing something which violates the standards I live by, I will afford them their dignity, and I see that as tolerance. But I’m not going to encourage someone in behavior I consider self-destructive.
If anyone is as sick of polls as I am, please hit the button in your car that blares out someone is trying to steal it – and do it a couple of times in a row. 🙂
Boy, that used to be common in my neighborhood–especially late at night.
The Left is a walking contradiction
