Our politics is getting pretty sticky, don’t you think? Reminiscent of the death throes of the Roman Republic, as described by Plutarch.
Usually it’s a GOP candidate’s office that gets torched, but this time it was Far Left Bernie Sanders’ turn (https://abcnews.go.com/amp/US/suspect-fire-sen-bernie-sanders-vermont-office-hit/story?id=108963922). Some kook from California set fire to Sanders’ office in Burlington, VT: they’ve got him on video spraying lighter fluid around the building and setting it on fire. Police have him in custody, but so far there’s no information as to his motive.
Think of it: the guy crossed the whole North American continent to do this. It must’ve been a pretty strong motive. Well, at least to him.
Meanwhile in New Jersey, a man with Trump and MAGA stickers on his vehicle was attacked by someone with a sledge hammer. “Detained” by witnesses, police arrested the attacker and charged him with attempted murder. Here police say the motive was personal, not political. We shall see.
Oh–and you’ve seen our (ahem!) president mobilizing the government to have his chief opponent jailed before Election Day.
