Too Much ‘Hate,’ Cops Overwhelmed

Drowning in paperwork hi-res stock photography and images ...

Lots and lots and lots of paperwork–eh, laddie?

[Thanks to Susan for the nooze tip.]

Whoa! Heave to! Time out!

In only one week, since the new “hate speech law” went into effect, Scottish police have been overwhelmed by 8,000 complaints–more than they received all last year (https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2024/04/09/police-scotland-cant-cope-with-flood-of-hate-speech-reports/). Unfortunately, the new law sez police have to investigate all these complaints. Yes, all of them.

At a rate of 8,000 a week, that would come out to 400,000 more investigations per year, allowing two weeks off for bed rest in the sanitarium.

Some police officials think some of these complaints are the fruit of personal grudges, people using the law to get at each other. Gee whiz! Ya don’t say? Who ever thought that’d happen?

Meanwhile, best-selling author J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter) continues to defy police to arrest her for calling men “men” instead of “trans women” or whatever. They’re pretending they don’t hear her. I guess they won’t hear me, either, but I’ll say it anyway: I double-dog dare you to put the Harry Potter lady in jail.

Oh! And police officials also say these “hate speech investigations” will use up a great deal of police man-hours [uh, did I just break the law?] that would ordinarily be put in to solving actual crimes.

No one has mentioned how much paperwork those 400,000 investigations is going to generate–to say nothing of who will have to read it.

They’re gonna need a bigger rest home.

  1. Wow, I think that just when we have heard the worst they can come up with, NOPE, they are working over time to keep the madness going.

  2. This is truly ridiculous. I’ve been the target of all sorts of derogatory speech in my day, and usually, I just ignore it. When I worked construction, in my teens, I heard speech that would curl your hair, including some ethnically charged content. We dealt with it, and amazingly, I can’t remember anyone actually suffering harm. As a matter of fact, once differences were aired, it wasn’t uncommon for the parties to find a point of compromise and to come away respecting one another.

These people need to take a good long look at a photo of an alligator, and then grow some thicker skin.
