Down With ‘No U-Turn’ Signs?

I can’t bring myself to post pictures of this wing-ding. Here’s a nice collared lizard instead.

An “upmarket” Los Angeles neighborhood has been stripped of its few remaining “No U-Turn” street signs… because they’re (oh, forsooth) “homophobic” (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13532687/Los-Angeles-Homophobic-LGBTQ-Hollywood.html).

It is alleged that the signs had been put up, years ago, to discourage homosexual “hook-ups” in public places. So we guess U-turns are permitted now.

Is this how a civilization dies? Just sayin’. They had a big celebration to mark the removal of the signs. (“No Cruising” went, too.) It is reported that there were a number of area residents who didn’t understand what this was all about. Well, now they do.

This era’s cultural history will be written up in books someday.

Who will read them?

  1. Next they’ll have to get rid of red traffic lights and stop signs because of the sly reference to “red light districts.”

  2. “When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.” Isaiah 59:19

The Church has dropped the standard the Lord has given us. It’s not the wicked who are the problem at this time, its us.

The whole world stood against the small band of believers on the Day of Pentecost. Now, there are millions and millions of us … and yet, we allow a few wicked to do these kinds of things. What happened to the power, God gave to His people way back then? Has God run out of power? Has His spirit faded away?

You know where the answer lies.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” II Chronicles 7:14

This prayer is not directed to the wicked, commanding them to repent and seek the Lord.

  3. Has all sense left the arena? Are we bound to the lowest common denominator of someone else’s interpretation of the most mundane things. Yes, this is how culture dies.
