
While we’ve been busy with presidential politics, the United Church of Christ has lost 551 churches and more than 286.000 members (https://www.crosswalk.com/headlines/contributors/milton-quintanilla/united-church-of-christ-lost-286k-members-550-churches-2012-2022.html#:~:text=According%20to%20a%20new%20report,286%2C610%20members%20and%20551%20congregations.). The time period covered by the current report is 2012-2022. So it could be more by now.
In 2005 the UCC voted to recognize same-sex pseudomarriages. That seems to be what started the exodus. The denomination has only about a third of the members it had in 1960.
