No one on this earth is without faith. It’s just a matter of where you put it.
God gave us reason as a gift, and meant that we should use it. That it has led some to worship “reason” as a god, while rejecting God Himself, is only what we might expect from a fallen world. Or they can worship “Science.”
All those things are idols. They function when used properly. But like the feller said, a doormat makes a mighty fine doormat but a mighty poor god.
You nailed it. Worshipping science is pretty common, and when we hear these people who do so, it is amazing how far afield they go; spending their whole lives in the pursuit of truth and never coming close to it.
At the same time as they pursue truth, they deny that truth exists.
We all live by faith in the since we believe when we go to the store we will be able to come home, or that the sun will come up tomorrow. It is saving faith, that gift of faith received because of the grace of God, that believes in what Jesus accomplished on the cross and in His resurrection from the dead that regenerates our dead spirit and makes us alive to the reality of the Trinity.
