Gee, I’d Like to Go to Bed

You mean I have to stay up even longer?

I’m up at this late hour because I’m following doctor’s instructions to prepare for my colonoscopy tomorrow, which is now today. I have to stay up at least another hour: more pills to take. I have kept this grueling schedule to the letter, so it had better work!

I don’t know when the anesthetic will wear off, so who knows when I’ll write another post?

Ai-ya! I’m guzzling Gatorade, cup after cup, and I haven’t eaten all day, except for some Italian ice and a popsicle, both of which turn into liquids before they reach your stomach.

And that, I think, is as far as I’m gonna go with this. Patty says, “Imagine someday in the future, when one doctor says to another, ‘I can’t believe they did that! How did those poor people ever survive 21st-century medicine?'”

  1. The good thing is, once it’s over, you shouldn’t have to do this again for a very long time. If they use Propofol, you’ll come out of the anesthetic pretty quickly, but be a bit groggy for a few hours.

    1. I just spent a horrible night, no sleep, get up and change the bedding in the middle of the night, etc., etc.
It would sadden me if I were too groggy to be able to write anything at all.
