If the Town Won’t Fix the Potholes…

Pothole Dangers - Drivers Beware

Hardly a nice smooth ride, is it?

A man in the village of Lockland, Ohio, has been charged with criminal mischief for spraying orange paint around potholes on three streets in his neighborhood (https://www.fox19.com/2024/07/30/lockland-man-tired-waiting-pothole-repairs-facing-charges-after-painting-circles-around-them/).

He said he did it because he got tired of waiting for the town to fix the potholes. That’s all he has agreed to say about it.

Officials say that now they’re going to send out crews to fix the potholes. The resident’s action, though, was the same as spraying graffiti… they said.

It’s the local government’s responsibility to fix potholes. How long are residents expected to wait for them to do it? I once hit a pothole that ruined my transmission. It’s not like unfilled potholes are just a trivial annoyance.

And neither is a government that dawdles about fixing them. Government gets rather steamed at you if you dawdle about paying your taxes.

  1. The town is luck that when the potholes filled up with water the EPA and Dept of the Interior didn’t swoop in to declare the potholes “wetlands” and ban any attempts to drain them and fill them in. 🙄
