As it was, thanks to stupid leadership, the Gauls occupied most of the city and burned most of it down. Had it gone just a tiny bit farther, there would have been no Rome at all. It took the city over 100 years to recover.
This fallen world never runs out of stupid smart people.
Yes, when I was young, I did a lot of reading about these times and the people back then. I especially found the writings about Egypt interesting.

America has an abundance of dumb leaders. My theory is politics is a magnate for sociopaths. They can lie, cheat, make fake promises all with a smile and have no guilt at all as they use their authority to promote themselves. I just returned from Lake Havisu City, AZ because my younger brother passed away unexpectedly. Havisu, pop of 60.000 and much higher when the snowbirds arrive for the winter, may be the biggest Trump town in America with Trump flags and signs everywhere.
