Okay, it happened in Turkey and Muslims aren’t supposed to drink alcoholic beverages–but at least the story had a happy ending. They found the guy they were looking for. And it was as easy as pie!

As was learned in the US, roughly 100 years ago, prohibiting alcohol use doesn’t reduce consumption, but simply drives it underground. This opens up a completely different can of worms, because homemade alcohol is completely unregulated, as to potency, and even safety. I could easily imagine that it might be hard to judge how much is too much when the potency is unknown.
The Bible does not condemn moderate use of alcohol, but does condemn drunkenness. Various denominations have their own policies regarding this, but I’ve never found it difficult to use alcohol in moderation, on the relatively rare occasions that I use alcohol at all. God’s rules are for our benefit, and not burdensome.
