Back to the Emergency Room!

1,433 Ambulance Driver Night Stock Photos, High-Res Pictures ...

I woke up in the middle of the night, last night, to find my catheter had sprung a leak and drenched my bed. That called for another trip to the hospital, circa 4 a.m. So I was in the freakin’ ambulance again.

Can’t seem to stay away, can I?

Well, they couldn’t find a leak. They reckoned I must’ve made an error with the valve… or something.  I empty the damned thing every night just before I go to bed. They changed it anyway. My new catheter has a tube a foot shorter than the other one’s! *Sigh*

Oh, but let me tell you about the miracle. My wife couldn’t see or feel any puddles or even damp spots on the bed. I believe I was the victim of a very realistic bad dream. I couldn’t find anything wrong with the bed, either.

  1. What a frightening experience! I’m in the middle of praying a novena for you, and of course you’re part of all my other prayers.

    1. No, but I can say that the sooner you can have it out yhe better (not telling you anything you don’t already know). But I will say that when we learned better, we took him to the regular urologist instead of the emergency room when he had issues. Near zero wait times. Didn’t call, just showed up and insisted they help. Be a polite but squeaky wheel.

    2. Our cancer doctor says not to tamper with “down there” for 6 months to a year–the rectal cancer really messed me up before they killed it.

    3. That’s weird—went to reply to this one and it ended up attached to Phoebe’s. Then again, it’s WordPress, so…

Bottom line is I’m praying for a full recovery as swift as possible for you.

  2. Continuous prayers for you both. Catheters are a royal PITA, for so many reasons, even when you’re meticulous about checking it. He had more trips to the emergency room (and urologist) over that awful catheter than anything else concerning my father’s surgeries.

    1. Sounds like we must of been very lucky with my husband’s catheter. I think that is the only thing he had we didn’t have trouble with. Prayers you and Patty’s way daily.
