So much for all I had planned to do today.
Instead I spent most of the day wrestling with a recalcitrant kitchen sink which had been threatening me with slow draining and ominous gurgling sounds 
for awhile. My mother’s method (repeated pots of boiling water, which usually clears it) while most of the time is completely effective, did not seem to work as well. I will repeat tomorrow, but it looks like a visit from the plumber is in order. O boy! Just what I wanted.
I had wanted to tell you about my Uncle Buster’s dog, Topper. She was very much like some of those guardian cats in the cats and babies video. She really didn’t like anybody much, except Uncle Buster and me.
I’ll tell you about her tomorrow.
Right now, I am going to relax and make my supper.

A few years back, I found a barbed, plastic drain cleaner tool that you snake down the drain, then pull back up. It might be worth a try.
We had a major clogged drain a couple of times. After the last time plumber cleared it, this was his recommendation for general maintenance. Fill the sink with hot water, then pull the drain. As it drains and a vortex of water forms, squeeze a generous amount of dish detergent (he recommended Dawn) into the vortex. As the hot water swirls down the pipes, the detergent will help remove any accumulated grease along the inside.
I can try that in the future.
