I Thought Today Was Thursday

Yes, somehow I thought today was Thursday.  I ran around like a maniac, straightening and tidying because the phone tech was coming.  When I was on the phone with my friend in Florida, it came up in conversation that it was Wednesday.  Well, that sure gave me a jump on tomorrow.

I think the butcher who fills the online orders at WholeFoods must have been drinking on the job when I put my order in yesterday. Yesterday, instead of loin lamb chops, he sent a different cut.  And today when I opened up what were supposed to be boneless short ribs, it was a nice small pot roast.  Fine, I’ll take it.  Whole Foods has a very detailed system. After every delivery you are sent a questionnaire–they want to know if you are satisfied, if not, why and ask what they can do to correct it.  If they make a substitution and you are not happy, they will refund your money.  It is a great system and I have always been happy with their choices.

Another thing–Lee’s manuscript has not arrived at Chalcedon yet.  Hopefully it will get there today.  I have the tracking number, but I sincerely hope it does not come to that.

Well that’s about it for today.

Pray for our troops.

God bless everybody.

OK, But Not as Good as Yesterday

Today was another beautiful day weather-wise.  But the thing that mystifies me is I can’t seem to get two really good days in a row.  Yesterday I had all kinds of energy.  Today I was so tired that I fell asleep in front of the computer.  That’s pretty goofy.  I’ve been known to do that, but usually on a gray and gloomy day.  No excuse for it today.

Guess I’ll have to build up to leading a normal life one day at a time.

I am really looking forward to reading Mark Rushdoony’s biography of his father.  I had watched a talk Mark gave a few years ago about his father and it was fascinating.  I should have the material in a few days and I can’t wait to get started.

Aside from fatigue, all is well.

God bless everybody.,

What a Good Day

Today was sunny and bright and relatively warm.  In the low 40’s which feels warm after what we’ve been used to.

Today I got out to the post office and mailed off Lee’s manuscript.  They should get it by Monday.

Had a really wonderful conversation with the clerk.  She is a gem, and very helpful.  She carefully wrapped the manuscript, boxed it  and said it should get there by Monday.  I was the only one there, so we had a really great conversation–about everything from Lee’s books to home schooling.  I can’t tell you how good it felt to be out and about having a real interaction with a real person.  She took down Lee’s name and said she would look up Bell Mountain on Amazon.  She thinks her daughter might be interested in it.

Also did a bit of walking, which was possible now that the sidewalks are all clear.

It might not sound like much, but after this last few weeks of solitary confinement it was great.

I was not happy to find out that daylight saving time starts this weekend.  I find that hour’s adjustment difficult and I always have.  Losing an hour knocks my schedule off for weeks.

Well, that’s it for now.

God bless everybody.

Today

As I sit here on a gray and gloomy day, I can take comfort in seeing my little car sitting happily in the parking lot.  My neighbor took me to pick it up earlier.  No problems, inspection passed and all good.

I did have an experience a little while ago, however, that was new to me.  I think it may have been an anxiety attack.  I had a fast heartbeat  (which I do not usually have) and a burning feeling in my chest–not like indigestion, or heartburn or anything like that.  Imagine how your chest would feel if you stood in front of a blast furnace, opened the door and took a deep breath.  Needless to say, I sat down with a glass of cold water and did some praying and attempted to relax. That is a new one on me, and something I want absolutely no part of.

The ants have suddenly diminished greatly.  I guess the Terra does need some time to work.  If this kind of reduction keeps up, I won’t have a problem at all in a few days.

Another odd thing, I may have mentioned.  There seems to be a major shortage of lamb, at least around here.  Whole foods has not hat had any but the stew meat in Cryovac, which I do not care for.  Ditto Shop Rite.  When I investigated online I was told that due to drought in the Southwest, the herds are at their smallest in 25 years, but that does not explain the lack of New Zealand lamb.  Is anybody else having this problem, or is it just the New York metropolitan area?

It is five months today  since Lee passed away.  In some ways it seems like yesterday, and in other ways like a long time ago.

I am not sure what I will tackle tomorrow.  There’s more than enough here to keep me busy forever.

Catch you tomorrow

God bless everybody

Boy, Was I Busy Today

I really was busy all day today–one thing and another. I got out to the store very early.  Thankfully, no police officer stopped me for the outdated inspection sticker.  That is a hefty fine I assume.

Tomorrow I will drop the car off for inspection.

I have a few things lined up for tomorrow–hopefully they will get done (or mostly done).

A great deal warmer today.  Not warm, but warmer than it has been.

Now I will go start my supper.

God bless everybody.

This is Boo and Snoopy on their special orthopedic dog mattress.  Will tell you about Snoopy tomorrow.  He is the most recent member of my daughter’s pack.

Today Flew By

Today, I had a lot of issues and the day really flew by.

First thing this morning I went upstairs to work on clearing out the bedroom.  That was a mistake.  Lee had saved so many things–the boxes that held our wedding rings, a note I gave him of what to pick up at the store (he saved it because I drew a little cartoon of myself on it) it was all too tender and raw for me to handle right now. There are a lot of things like that up there and it’s far too soon to do anything with them .

Then when I went to change the water in our cooler, I found out that the bottle I had brought in from the foyer was frozen solid.  Fortunately, the water delivery is tomorrow and they will take the other frozen bottles and replace them.  They are 5 gallon and will take forever to thaw.  I really was not kidding about those freakishly low temperatures.

Shop Rite delivered the groceries to the wrong apartment, so I had to manage with the grocery bags and the cane, which is a real pain.  It is just laziness on the Uber driver’s part because there is NO WAY that apartment 5 would be the first apartment in the building.  It is the closest to the street, so they drop them there and let the people in the building sort it out for themselves.

Sounds like the patience is a little thin.

Well at least it is warmer and I know what I am tackling tomorrow.

God bless everybody.

It Was Somewhat Warmer Today

The weather was better today.  I was too absorbed in what I was doing to get out, but that will take place tomorrow.

It seems we are having a meat shortage here (at Whole Foods).  I am going to try the butcher in Edison tomorrow.  I hope he delivers as I don’t want to be tooling around with an expired inspection sticker.  That’s another thing that has to be addressed ASAP.

It is supposed to be warmer again tomorrow (although it is going way down again tonight) which will be a help.

I have eaten so much chicken in the last couple of weeks I feel like I am sprouting pinfeathers.  I like chicken, but enough is enough.  Evidently the meat shortage is real–the national herd (I didn’t know they tracked these things) is at its lowest in 75 years due to drought and other problems in the Southwest.  Or so they say.

Upward and onward.

God bless everybody.

Another Very Cold and Windy Day

This weather is incredible.  It will be going down to around zero tonight, with wind gusts that will be high.  Again.

It has been very cold and windy all day, albeit sunny and clear.  Sort of like pictures I have seen of Antarctica.

Mid week, it is supposed to warm up (laughs hysterically) to around freezing.

I think I will eat supper early, as usual, and go to bed early while listening to some scary stories on YouTube.

Have a good night, all.

Stay warm.

God bless everybody.

I Finally Got Out!

Well today felt like I was let out of Alcatraz.  I got out relatively early, did a couple of errands and squeezed in a small walk this afternoon.

When I was in the convenience store, we were talking about the weather.  The owner was remarking on how cold it was.  I was born within a few miles of where I live now and have lived in this area all my life.  This is truly the coldest winter I ever have experienced.  We have had years with more snow, and we also had years with severe (0-6) cold temperatures at night, but never for such a long period of time.  I heard a Ranger one time talking about how the bears love New Jersey because of the mild winters (they don’t have to hibernate here).

I just could not help bombarding you with sloths today–I was in “sloth mode”.  Another critter I would love to hold in my arms for a bit, especially one of the babies.

I hope everyone had a good day.

Stay warm.

God bless everybody.

No Day to Brag About

I did finish the accountant’s stuff today, but that was it.

Truly, I don’t understand why I can’t have more than one day in a row where I feel alert and productive.  Maybe all the stress with the drugstore sapped the little bit of energy I do have.

I don’t feel like I am getting sick or anything like that, but it is really tiresome to be so low-energy all the time.  I am pretty sure that it is from being so very out of shape.

I had a really nice chat with Lee’s former editor.  She too, is just about housebound from the weather.  Everybody’s patience is wearing thin from it.  We’re just not used to it.

There is always hope for tomorrow.

God bless everybody.
