I had never heard of bears gathering in such a large group. Is this a new behavior?

That would be concerning, to say the least. Bears can be a real problem, and it sounds like these bears have lost their fear of humans.
On a side note, when the reporter said “in Great Falls”, for a second I thought she had said “Ingrate Falls”. 🙂

If such a town ever comes into being, I know a couple of people I would nominate as mayor and council person. 🙂
Not common behaviour, but not new, either.
It was new to me, I never knew bears would be in such a large group. That was a shocker.
It makes one wonder.
