Boy, Was I Busy Today

I really was busy all day today–one thing and another. I got out to the store very early.  Thankfully, no police officer stopped me for the outdated inspection sticker.  That is a hefty fine I assume.

Tomorrow I will drop the car off for inspection.

I have a few things lined up for tomorrow–hopefully they will get done (or mostly done).

A great deal warmer today.  Not warm, but warmer than it has been.

Now I will go start my supper.

God bless everybody.

This is Boo and Snoopy on their special orthopedic dog mattress.  Will tell you about Snoopy tomorrow.  He is the most recent member of my daughter’s pack.

Today Started off as a Real Stinker

I rise very, very early.  This morning YouTube (which I rely on heavily for certain content) would NOT work.  And it would not tell me why.

This you really need at 5 am.  I tried in vain to fix the problem, but there was no way of finding out what the problem was.  This ate up close to an hour.  It turned out I must have still been paying with Lee’s old inactive credit card.  Jeez fellas, if you had told me that at the beginning, it would have saved a great deal of time and anguish.  I don’t think Google has too many real, live human beings working there.  You get asked meaningless questions that do not pertain to the problem you are trying to solve and there is no way of hooking up to a real, live person who would grasp the situation in a minute.  It was a very frustrating hour or so.

After that I did get a chance to work on my tax stuff, but still felt like I was running behind all day.

We are supposed to get another snowstorm this weekend.  And the frigid temperatures, as well.  Hot diggity.

If I sound a little grumpy and short-tempered right now, it’s because I am a little grumpy and short tempered right now.

So I will take my grumpy little self and start my supper and watch some TV.  That should help.

Please stay safe and warm.

God bless everybody.

No News Right Now

Really can’t talk right now.

I have to go back to battle with a recalcitrant kitchen sink.  I will win this battle and this war, even if I have to call a plumber.

Actually the picture you are seeing is me facing the sink.  I know the thing in my hand looks amazingly like a sword, but it is really a disguised plunger. The shield will keep me from getting splashed.

Catch you tomorrow.

God bless everybody

Today

Kind of frustrated today.

Was all set to go to the bank this morning, then drop my car off at the garage for inspection.  The lock on my car door was frozen.  It is bitterly cold here today, though sunny and bright (not like yesterday).

I will give it another day and at least get to the bank tomorrow.  Inspection will have to wait until next week.

Every day can’t be perfect.

God bless everybody

TODAY

Oddly, today turned out to be really productive.

My hopes for today were  originally pretty slim.  The weather was atrocious, with a drizzling, not-quite-freezing rain, dark skies and generally crappy tone.  I managed to get out and do some errands, arrange for my car to be inspected tomorrow and catch up a little bit.  I got two grocery orders delivered, so the catering front is up to speed.  The town was a ghost town today, also.  That was a surprise–one of the stops was a liquor store and I thought for sure that would be a zoo, what with the New Year parties coming up.  Nobody was in the store but me and one other woman.

I have to  get out of here early tomorrow to drop my car at the mechanics.  It would be great if they could finish it tomorrow (hopefully without any expensive problems).

All in all, not a half-bad day.

God bless everybody.

Today

The predicted snow did materialize, but not quite as much as they had forecast.  That’s fine with me.

Yesterday, the handymen came and I now have a nice bright fluorescent light in the kitchen.  What a difference that makes.  No more preparing supper a la flashlight.  They were very efficient and were here for only 15 minutes.  Now I can see how sadly neglected that kitchen is.  That will be one of my projects for next week.  That and getting my car to inspection.

Every year, for our anniversary, Lee would make me a card.  He was a good cartoonist, and the cards would be decorated with these various  characters that he had made up.  These characters were featured in the story he would tell me at bedtime.  Yes–I got a bedtime story.  Every night.  Except for the last few years.  Today I came upon the large manila envelope that I had saved many of them in.  Should I open this–I asked myself.

I did open it and I shouldn’t have.  It’s far too soon to look at anything like that.  To be honest, it set me off for a while.

It is very gray and overcast today.  It looks like it could snow some more, but it isn’t supposed to.

I am going to watch some TV, prepare my supper and go to bed early.  As I usually do.

God bless everybody

Summing Up Today

Many distractions today.  Had to attend to things that got in the way of my original plans for today.

I just have to learn to be a little more patient with myself (and life in general).

We all can but try.

God bless everybody.

Closing out Today

No sign of anyone to fix the kitchen light.  Tomorrow is Sunday, so no one will be working tomorrow.

I will have to call the landlord again on Monday.

Not a totally bad day, just not very ambitious.

Decided to make myself chili for supper and somehow today it seemed to take up a lot more pots and cutlery than usual.  I’m just out of practice.

God bless everybody

Wrapping Up Friday

Did not get much done today.

I am still waiting for the electrician.  My landlord says he (the electrician) will come by as soon as he has time.  I am afraid I will have to get more assertive about this, because no light in the kitchen is a major pain in the butt, and is not safe.

My neighbor, Josh went to the store today and picked me up a small lamp and a supply of good bulbs for it.  It works well and will be a real help out there.  He is a blessing.

I have to admit I was very deflated today.  Plus it was dark and rainy most of the day.

Lee’s passing was only a short time ago, so there is always crying time.

I could use a crew in here, but when I am tired like this, I couldn’t even direct them.

Going to take it easy for the rest of the day.

God bless everybody.

So Far Today

I”m batting zero today.

Was on the phone (on hold –with really wretched music playing) with Social Security and finally threw in the towel.  I had heard that Monday is the worst day to try to reach them.  I will just wait until the mailman comes late this afternoon.

Then I tried to order my wine online as I have done for several years and  I couldn’t place the order.  They are probably short right now, so I ordered fewer bottles and the order went through.

I have this feature on the computer where  I can peek at the mail I am getting today (just the outside, of course) and there are two pieces of mail from Social Security.  Just hoping that the information they didn’t have has turned up.  That would be a major blessing.  I won’t know til our mailman comes late this afternoon.

My landlord said he would stop by to pick up the rent check–a major favor to me because downtown parking is never good and at this time of year it is truly atrocious.

By the way, I don’t know if Lee ever told you about the stunt our little town pulled two years ago.  They replaced all the parking meters in the municipal lot and on the street with parking meters that take credit cards AND raised the minimum from twenty five cents to one dollar.  You gotta love your local politicians, folks.  They always have you in mind.

Well, that’s where it is right now.  Nothing really accomplished, but I do feel like I did a day’s work.

More to come later.
