‘Were You There?’

Welcome to Good Friday–the day we set aside to proclaim the historical reality of the crucifixion of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Were You There When They Crucified My Lord?, performed by HeartCry Worship.

There is more distraction than usual, this Easter. Many of our churches are closed. Use hymns, prayer, and Bible-reading to focus.

By Request, ‘O Sacred Head Surrounded’

Current events aside, this week features Good Friday and that’s important.

Requested by Phoebe: O Sacred Head Surrounded, sung by the choir at St. Michael’s Church in Stillwater, Minnesota.

Lyrics from the Middle Ages (author not known for certain), music by Hans Leo Hassler, harmonized by J.S. Bach.

Our seventh grade class sang this in our spring concert.

‘Were You There When They Crucified My Lord?’

This being Good Friday, I thought this a suitable hymn to share with you–Johnny Cash performing Were You There When They Crucified My Lord?

My mother used to sing this around the house. I trust she sings it now, in glory.
