Maine: Drones Refuse to Work

And

For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.  II Thessalonians 3:10

Paul addressed this admonition to persons who were disorderly, shiftless busybodies. The governor of Maine, Paul LePage, recently issued a similar directive to similar persons in his state–able-bodied adults with no dependents, who refuse to do any work at all in return for the state’s continuing their welfare benefits ( http://usherald.com/governor-requires-food-stamp-recipients-volunteer-6-hrs-week-happens-right/# ).

In order to continue getting food stamps or other freebies, able-bodied adult Mainers with no dependents have to either work at a job for 20 hours a week or else volunteer for 6–yes, we said six!–hours a week of community service. And none of this kicks in until after you’ve been on welfare for three months.

These rather modest requirements have already driven some of the drones to go without food stamps rather than do any work at all. And remember, if you can’t find a decent job, you can still keep getting your freebies by volunteering for just six hours a week.

I guess, if you’re, like, third-generation welfare and you’ve never worked a day in your life, and don’t know of anyone in your family who ever worked, you might find it kind of hard to get your mind around the idea. You’ve got the welfare habit; it’s your deeply ingrained way of life. Other people have got to work to support you, so you can play video games and hang out with other drones.

Don’t hold your breath waiting for Gov. LePage’s example to be followed at the federal level.

It’s only a matter of time until some Democrats come along and restore the lifelong droneship they have so carefully created.
