Sen. John Fetterman–when is a progressive not a progressive?

I used to think Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) was bonkers. He’d had a stroke not so long ago. Democrats had to rally from all over the nation to get him re-elected.

And now they’re mad at him (https://nypost.com/2024/01/20/news/sen-john-fetterman-progressives-left-me/). Hopping mad. Sounds to me like a “we’re gonna get you!” mad.

Although he still shows up for work in a hoodie and gym shorts (but not always), and likes the lights out in his office when he’s being interviewed there… dog my cats, he’s starting to make sense! No wonder they’re mad at him.

The new Fetterman–but he says he hasn’t changed; they have–thinks we have a border crisis that has to be fixed, opposes schemes to defund the police, and supports Israel against the murdering savages, Hamas.

Dems are furious becausethis guy was sold to them as a big “progressive” and now he’s talking like Donald Trump. He says he hasn’t left the Party, he’s still a Democrat: it’s just that the progs have sailed far, far off the mainland and left him behind.

(Silly rabbit! There’s no such thing as a sane progressive.)

Progs want open borders, powerless police, and victory for Hamas. These are things that only evil, stupid, or perverse people want.

Yes, Rudi–if only!

Rudi, we understand, we share your frustration. We’re all getting sand kicked into our faces by the Democrat Party.

But how would you “abolish” it?

I mean, wouldn’t that be like trying to abolish original sin? Like, this is the party whose defense of slavery brought on the Civil War. This is the party of insane spending, high taxes, abortion, transgender, playing footsie with Red China and the globalists–and at home, censorship, cancel culture, and loopy plans to make us all eat bugs.

But–!

If you closed down all its offices and wiped the Democrat Party off the ballot, the sins and idiocies it promotes would still be there. America-hating communist fimbos would still run the teachers’ unions, would still be bringing drag queens into libraries and children’s classrooms. The people who stand for this stuff would still be there. They’d form another party before you could say “Khrushchev” and it would be the same damned thing over a different label.

We have to work for smaller victories. This tower of evil can only be taken down as it was built, brick by brick.

But we could take our children out of public education. That would be a start.
