‘Holy, Holy, Holy’

In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy is the LORD or hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.   –Isaiah 6: 1-3

Isaiah’s vision in Isaiah Chapter 6, and Holy, Holy, Holy always go together, in my mind.

This is the King’s College Choir, singing the hymn.

‘God of Our Fathers’

From St. Bartholomew’s Church, New York City: God of Our Fathers.

Let this hymn serve as a timely reminder of the eternal majesty of God the Father, who made the heavens and the earth and all things in them: of whom it is rightly said, the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. As Steve Brown often preached, “If you’re not a little bit afraid, then it’s not God you’re talking to.” For further information, revisit Isaiah Chapter 6.

‘Whom Shall I Send?’

In the year that King Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up… Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here I am; send me.    Isaiah 6:1, 8

It’s an awesome responsibility to speak God’s Word. Isaiah was terrified because he was, as he put it, a man of unclean lips: a sinner. But so are we all, and the King of Kings has given it to His church to proclaim both His glory and His right to rule.

Susan requested this hymn. Oddly, I was just thinking it was time to post it again–only I couldn’t remember the title. So thank you, Susan.

‘Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty’

No lyrics, just the organ. Think Isaiah 6: “…I saw also the Lord sitting on a throne… And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of His glory.” And Revelation 4: “[A] throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne… And the four beasts… rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.”
