I heard this hymn this morning, played by a bagpiper on the steps of St. Francis Church, across the street–The Lord of Sea and Sky. I took that as a hint that I ought to post it. Couldn’t find it with bagpipes, but the National Youth Choir of Scotland is the next best thing. And the lyrics make you think of Samuel, and Isaiah–don’t they?
Susan asked for this one, The Lord of Sea and Sky, and here we have it by the National Youth Choir of Scotland. Fitting, isn’t it? We remember Samuel as a little boy, called by God during the night–he thought it was Eli, at first–and finally answering, “Here I am, Lord!”
Blessed are those who hear the call, and answer it.
Thanks to Carol in Florida for sending us this hymn.
The Lord of Sea and Sky, also known as Here I Am, Lord, was published in 1981 and quickly became a favorite in churches all over the world. Here we have it performed beautifully by the National Youth Choir of Scotland at Dunblane Cathedral.
