Hymn, ‘Trust and Obey’

Having received no hymn requests for this morning, I chose this one–just because it came into my mind. A good old hymn.

But of course we don’t trust God, neither do we obey Him. Maybe we trust in gravity waves. Or in people who say they’ve just discovered gravity waves. We nod sagely and mutter, “Uh-huh, yep, gravity waves,” as if we had any idea at all of what we were talking about.

God have mercy on us.

  1. This is a beautiful old hymn – and a good reminder. As I age, I do find myself trusting more (even in silly little things that I ask of Him, like not letting me fall off the chair I’ve climbed up on, knowing I shouldn’t have done it) and trying to obey the still, small voice. I find myself acknowledging that still, small voice much more these days. That old saying “with age comes wisdom’ appears to be true.
