When The Smartest People in the World are not busy being materialists who worship an idol called “Science,” they’re New Agers who mock Christianity while imbibing every superstition they can find. And mastermind Gwyneth Paltrow has just opened a really pricey shop in Los Angeles that caters to them (https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/sep/22/sex-dust-and-vampire-repellent-a-stroll-through-gwyneth-paltrows-new-la-store).
Here at The Goop Lab, devoted to Gwyneth’s “lifestyle brand”–now why didn’t I think of that, marketing my “lifestyle”?–people with scads of money to burn can buy… Sex Dust, “alchemized to ignite sexual energy,” once you figure out what “alchemized” means; Psychic Vampire Repellent consisting of “sonically tuned gem elixirs” at $30 a bottle, and which probably doesn’t work because if it did, there’d be no one in the store–and all of it “choreographed by GP herself.” Hum baby. No wonder it costs so much.
Oh, I don’t know. Maybe it’s business as usual for a dress to cost $800.
I don’t know what GP, as they call her, does besides appear in movies that I have no interest in seeing. I think if I bought a bottle of Psychic Vampire Repellent, I could never respect myself again.
People desert Christ to wallow in mumbo-jumbo, and glory in their wisdom and sophistication.
But the Lord is our defense: Jesu defend us.
That is absolutely incredible! Are there actually people willing to spend $30 on Psychic Vampire Repellent? I think I’ll start a competing business and repell psychic vampires for $15 via a phone call. That’ll show Gwyneth a thing or two. 🙂
Quite often, these days, I am struck by the fact that there are a lot of people out there whom live in a fantasy world much, if not all, of the time. We live in a world where men have traveled to the moon, yet people are flocking to embrace superstition and ignorance of science. I’ve had people argue in sincerity that no one has ever gone to the moon, that the earth is flat and that quantum physics is a hoax. This person did so with a smartphone in their pocket, which pretty much disproves their opinion about quantum physics. (All solid state devices, such as micro-processors operate via the laws of quantum physics. If this post makes it from my iPad to this blog and eventually is viewed on the Internet, quantum physics was involved in every step.)
One fundamental tenet of conservative philosophy is personal responsibility. Life it self has taught me that things are better when I take responsibility for myself. Conversely, I’ve seen the outcomes of person that refuse to take responsibility for themselves and frequently they are tragic. By abandoning reason and denying reality, a person can create a world which rationalizes the denial of personal responsibility, but this is illusory. Whether we like it or not, we are responsible for our own actions and for our own welfare.
Trying to live a life apart from reality will only work for so long. Eventually, reality will catch up to everyone and all the Psychic Vampire Repellent in the world will be of no use whatsoever.
Here’s some reality: Stop by the local farm store, such as Tractor Supply, and purchase some implements for keeping the yard from being overgrown by weeds and thorned plants. (My auto-correct balked at using the word “thorned”, but the whom program auto-correct probably leave such matters to landscaping crews staffed by underpaid and overworked migrants.) Anyhow, go home with these newly acquired tools, dress in steel-toed boots, work pants and a work shirt and go out and work until sundown. Then come in and take a quick shower. After the shower you will feel better than words can describe because you have gotten some great exercise, accomplished something worthwhile and are now nice and clean, ready to relax and will sleep like a baby.
A $500 gift certificate for Goop Lab would be worth a lot less to me than a $25 gift certificate for Tractor Supply and every bit as good at repelling Psychic Vampires. 🙂
Somehow the more Science we get, the more superstition we get along with it. Possibly because most people don’t understand (I know I don’t!) the incredibly complex technology that’s now a part of their daily lives.
Afterthought: Surrounded by things that mystify them, they turn to other mysteries.
As I watch the news daily, I have to wonder if people are getting crazier or have they always been like this? I suspect the further a society moves away from the truth of God, the more irrational their behavior becomes. Up becomes down, good becomes evil, etc. They can no longer even tell which gender they are. How dysfunctional is that? People think they can live without God, but from what I’ve seen they can’t. There literally lose all touch with reality. It doesn’t happen over night, but its a slow downward spiral. The time is fast approaching when God will once again have to step in and save man from himself.
Yeah, they’re getting crazier. Our culture foments it.
Kill the culture, and it’ll kill you back.
It might be more profitable if you market ‘vampire repeller repellent’. That way, the vampires have a fighting chance 🙂
Not only are these people self-absorbed, they’re much too self-absorbed to leave any room for Christ. A sorry state of affairs. We can only pray they wake up before time runs out – and repent!
When Samuel Morse demonstrated the telegraph to Congress, the words “What Hath God Wrought?” were transmitted as the planned reply to Morse’s original message. The innovation of the telegraph was as startling in 1844 as the advent of the Internet has been in our day. At that time, the glory was given to God, the last I heard, Al Gore claims the glory for the development of the Internet. (This in spite of the fact that the Arpanet {from which the Internet sprung} was developed in 1969, 8 years before Gore was even a member of the House of Representatives. In all fairness, Senator Gore did introduce the High Performance Computing Act of 1991 which helped to advance the Internet, but this is far from inventing the Internet. I’m relatively certain that ny conversation with Gore which dealt in TCP/IP or the routing protocols of the Internet would not last very long.)
We live in a time of somewhat mystifying technology. I’m in the business, but find myself surprised frequently at some of what is being developed. I’m all for it, in theory, but find the application of these technologies has not always been to the benefit of mankind. The same technologies which allow this blog to exist are sometimes misused for criminal purposes. Children with their head buried in a cell phone screen while ignoring the humans sitting in the same restaurant booth strike me as another example of misapplication.
It strikes me as very possible that some of the nonsense we see happening around us is in reaction to dealing with all of this advanced technology. For the vast majority of the population, these devices are incomprehensible, they work, but very few people understand how the pieces work and no one person can understand how every piece works. (As an example, I understand the networking aspect of high tech, but know hardly anything about the processor chips at the heart of it all.)
In addition to all the other things we gain from our Creator, He provides a compass. Everything we experience can be weighed against His standards, love of God and love of neighbor. When these are applied, the picture becomes much clearer. Advancements in communications are to the benefit of our fellow man, but must be used accordingly. The fact that an object 9.4″ x 6.6″ x 0.29” can be used to send and receive information earthwide is a miracle and a blessing. The physical laws which make this possible and the human genius required to develop such a device both attest for God’s glory. It’s all in how we use it.

I have come across articles about Gwyneth Paltrow and Bill Maher are how they are members of Snctm, a sex club that specializes in orgies. Annual membership is $75,000 a year according to the Daily Mail. No surprises here.

Our God gave us sex as a gift and it is so often misused in our world that I grieve at the thought of it. In the name of unrestrained pleasure, people have forgotten completely that they are made in the image of their Creator. What an insult to the living God.
