‘Blessed Assurance’

I don’t know about you, but I could use some assurance today–Blessed Assurance. Written by Fanny Crosby in 1873, performed by the kids from Fountainview Academy on their tour of Italy–yeah, this is what I needed.

  1. This couldn’t be more appropriate for me today. I was called at 11:30 last night- my younger son had been taken to ER by ambulance, had 4 IVs,
    MRI, Xrays, recommendation for surgery. Please pray for Eric. I now live hours away from him or I would go- even if my car were reliable, and me too, but my other son, Greg is now battling high BP. I know the Lord is in control, but we sure are not.

    1. No, Erlene, we’re not.
      I just now got off the phone with someone who called to tell me one of my old friends has died–liver problems. He and his wife had just bought a house down at the shore.

  4. Another favorite! Erlene and Lee, you’re really coming through this week.
    And these young people at Fountainview – well, the joy and honesty in their faces speaks volumes for The Lord.

    Erlene, prayers for you and both of your sons. God is surely in control and His outcome will stand. Peace and strength for you throughout, our dear sister.

    My diagnoses these past few weeks have been pretty rough: cardiomyopathy, which has weakened my general condition to the chemo I’m facing for the other diagnosis – non small cell squamous cell lung cancer which has intruded into the main bronchus and the lymph nodes in the left lung where the main mass is (which has also caused a collapse of my left lung). The size and other involvements preclude surgery, so chemo and radiation will probably be the course of treatment, even though the chemo is given hesitatingly. I have turned the whole thing over to my Heavenly Father. He’s got it – and has had from the first. Prayers for strength and peace for my family are greatly appreciated. Thank you all in our little family here at Lee’s.
