Here is an American anole (aka “chameleon”) reacting to his reflection in a mirror. The pink dewlap and the push-up motions are a common threat display.
My anole went far beyond what this one does. He turned several shades of brown and black and, with jaws gaping, lunged at his reflection. I had to take the mirror away, and I never showed it to him again.
Funny the way a lot of animals react to their own reflections in mirrors. I often wonder what they are thinking. I have had cats that really went bonkers when they see themselves.
It’s a simple form of tech overload.
Too bad you didn’t have a video of your anole seeing itself in the mirror – it would have been much better than this video. I saw a anole the other day apologizing for inappropriately hugging women 🙂
