How does this happen? Within the space of a single lifetime, a nation sheds its core beliefs, gouges out the very heart of its culture: how can that be?

Britain’s Fear of Christians

We watch a lot of British TV. In it we can see the culture changing. When I was born, Britain was a Christian country. Now I don’t know what it is. I’ll have to put my mind to work before I can fully describe what I see.

Some of you are reading this in Britain. Maybe you can tell me: what happened to British Christianity?

Is it as bad as it looks on TV?

  1. I’m told that one of the latest episode of the Father Brown TV series (character created by that great Catholic writer, G. K. Chesterton) supports abortion. Oh well, a little yeast leavens the whole loaf.

  2. “The other characters, from all walks of life, behave as if Christianity were some weird tribal cult from the heart of the Amazonian rain forest, complete with shrunken heads.” Great writing! It seems obvious that Islam is going to fill the void created by the abandonment of Christianity in England and Europe. The Mayor of London is a full-blown Muslim. Some people ask when is America going to have a Muslim President?, and others respond, “We already have.”
