Instead of saving that kid from being kidnapped by bad people, the kid was “kidnapped” by the civil authorities. Why didn’t the neighbor come over and talk to the kid and find out the circumstances?
Here in NJ, feuding neighbors often use “child protective services” as a way of getting at each other.
