Baboons on the Warpath

How good an idea is this, really?

Well, this one I just had to cover.

Baboons at the Knowsley Safari Park in England have been using human tools–knives, screwdrivers, hammers… and a chainsaw–to attack visitors’ cars (

Park officials suspect “pranksters” are giving the tools to the baboons so they can watch them go after a car; but it’s also possible the baboons are stealing the tools on their own initiative. They may not be able to manufacture a screwdriver, but they can learn how to use one. They haven’t yet been able to turn the chainsaw on.

My first thought was, maybe they just don’t like all these cars coming through their home. Or maybe it’s just irresistibly fun to trash visitors’ cars.

The rules say you can’t leave the car while you’re in the park. Who would want to?

This could get, shall we say, out of hand. What if somebody gives the baboons something rather more dangerous than a hammer?

  1. Gary Larson had a cartoon about a dog that kept a chainsaw next to his doghouse, just in case he needed some to chase someone off. Personally, I keep my chainsaw out of the reach of pets. 🙂

  2. Great scott, what will they do next? Remind me to never go where these critters hang out. Not that I am likely to do so, but this clinches it.

    1. I’m not so sure you aren’t onto something, Watchman. I am reluctant to say this, but the current events are not normal in any sense of the word. It could be the course of human events; mankind has certainly had a long record of self-destructive behavior, but I am coming to the conclusion that something more is going on here. Beyond politics, beyond sociology and beyond a disease. Be it Jehovah or Satan, there seems to be a very powerful hand at work.

    2. That is plainly obvious to me unknowable. I’ve been saying what we are seeing is merely a reflection of what’s occurring in the spiritual realm. There is a terrific battle taking place for the heart and soul of this nation and this world. I think the forces of darkness would love to see Trump lose the election and push us into their one world system that was prophesied in Revelation. We know this will happen eventually BUT I believe we can hasten it or delay it depending upon our actions. Recall that Hezekiah was able to change God’s mind and so can we. If we resign ourselves to the inevitable it will happen sooner rather than later, but if we humble ourselves and pray for our country and our leaders then I believe we can keep the powers of darkness at bay until the Church\Restrainer is removed. Then God will deal with them personally.

    3. The more I see, the more convinced I am that we are seeing something related to Revelation 17:17 “For God has put it in their hearts to execute His purpose by having a common purpose, and by giving their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God will be fulfilled.”

It is as if all the disparate elements of society have unified in one purpose, and they hate anyone or any thing which stands in the way of this purpose.

    4. Good question, but as big as WW II was, it was not global. There see to be problems everywhere, all at once, and at some point, the masses are going to refuse to continue this quarantine.

    5. “How could anyone have avoided thinking the same thing about World War II?”

Some people thought Hitler was the AntiChrist at the time and I suppose if I were alive back then maybe I would have thought the same thing. I have wondered if maybe our perception of events is skewed, and that could be. At the same time I feel like these are not normal times. Even the way people have reacted to this virus doesn’t feel normal to me.

I think as far as WWII goes, Israel was not even a nation then so it couldn’t have happened at that time. Zechariah talks about Jerusalem being a burdensome stone in the last days. So Israel being a nation today and having control of Jerusalem is a big sign to me. Plus, there wasn’t a push for global government back then. I think we are moving in that direction, but I would be glad to be wrong.

    6. I see it as no coincidence that all of this is happening while Israel is contemplating declaring sovereignty over Judea and Samaria. That will be a huge event. Frankly, I can’t imagine there being one peaceful moment after that happens.

During my upbringing, I was steeped in Replacement Theology and believed it for years. The scripture you mention, in Zechariah 12, is what convinced me that the restoration of Israel was literal and since adopting that view, a lot of the puzzle pieces have fallen into place, with regard to prophecy. When I was 12 years old, there was a war in Israel which lasted but six days. Ever since then, I have felt that the security of the world changed at that time. Such would only be in harmony with what was predicted.

    7. There’s always someone who wants to rule the world–Alexander, Pyrrhus, Genghis Khan, Hitler, and today’s cabal of globalists. The urge to establish a global government arises directly from Original Sin.

  3. Yes, it is the Nimrod mindset. We can read Matthew 24 and see what is going on. Earthquakes, pestilences, ethnos against ethnos, and these are only the beginning of the birth pains. We have seen nothing yet. As it was in the days of Noah, and the days of Lot, the general population do nothing but mock, but the Lord is preparing a place for those who love Him and obey Him. It will be difficult, but if we keep our eyes on Him and His Word, we can make it. We just can’t afford to be sidetracked and confused.

  4. If they next receive political support to be destructive or other intelligent baboons don’t show them they’re making things worse for everyone, that may be more dangerous.

  5. Honestly if I admit: Gangs of monkeys scare me. One of the countries I go teach at has a lot of monkeys and they are rather too wild
