What would it take for a government to admit its own policies were disastrously wrong?

Governments seem to exist for different reasons than they used to. I sure don’t feel protected, these days.
Read the Preamble of the Constitution and see if it has anything in common with the shabby, stolen government we have today.
It has nothing to do with our current debacle.
This makes me think of that great book by Herbert Schlossberg “Idols For Destruction” – truly a timeless book.
I’ll have to look it up.
