‘Bringing in the Sheaves’

I loved singing this in Sunday school, even thought I didn’t know what a “sheave” was, or why anyone would be bringing them in.

A good old-fashioned hymn, sung by Tennessee Ernie Ford–Bringing in the Sheaves.

  1. Sheaves applies to one of the Israeli feasts, and it was the one fulfilled by the Lord when He rose from the tomb and raised a group of other “righteous dead” to form the sheaf along with Him. He fulfilled every prophetic thing from the O. T. except those that are yet to be fulfilled by His return.

  2. Oh, yes, we were not taught those things back then, and in fact, many people are still not aware of this teaching.

  3. Actually, it’s a reference to Psalm 126:
    He that goes forth weeping,
    bearing the seed for sowing,
shall come home with shouts of joy,
bringing his sheaves with him. (KJV)
