Some years ago, I studied intensely the art and science of the bokken, the Japanese wooden sword. It led me to an encounter that scared the jeepers out of someone.
Oh, to be 55 again! I still hate loud crummy music, but I no longer go out bare-chested on a winter’s night to work out with the sword for an hour. My days of being a steaming apparition, I guess, are over.
Each stage of life has its own grace.
I’d almost forgotten that story — and I laughed just as hard this second time. Ah, to be young again! — like when I was a youngster of 70! 😁
I remember that post. When I was younger, I was really into martial arts. I was never formally trained, but I practiced and read everything I could about it. My interests have since changed as I’ve gotten older, but I still have my old martial arts books.
I was once a judo champion. Yeesh, that was a long time ago!
