It’s all in Gibbon. Does anybody still read him?
I’ve posted this quote from Edward Gibbon before, and I’ll probably post it again.
“The incapacity of a weak and distracted government may often assume the appearance and produce the effects of a treasonable correspondence with the public enemy.”
Thus incompetence and fecklessness to a degree unmatched in American history may account for what we have seen of SloJo Biden’s shabby excuse for an administration.
We are right there. Our problem is not politicians, per se, but a populace that is happy, so long as their smartphone keeps working.
Bread and Circuses all over again. Yes, I used to read Gibbon, but not in a very long time
