Here come the bus, here come the bus!
According to a poll by “Bolt,” whoever they are, one out of five drivers in Britain believe “Government should [be] actively discouraging the use of cars” (https://www.express.co.uk/life-style/cars/1713564/car-ownership-transport-driving-attitude-changes). This is some of the stupid nooze I didn’t bother to write yesterday.
Yes, Ma’am! “World Car Free Day!” Freeze your tuchas off waiting for a train. Sit up on the roof of the bus with the chickens. Toodle off to work on your scooter, in the rain. Wahoo–“the people” joyfully carry manure to the fields!
Wait a minute, there–couldn’t you have just as well said “four out of five British drivers don’t want the government discouraging the use of cars”?
Well, you don’t need a crystal ball to see what this is all about. It’s about taking away your mobility. When car ownership became virtually universal in America, it helped create the middle class. To a slightly lesser degree, it did that in Britain, too. If you have a car, you can go where you want, when you want to go. You don’t have to wait for some government bus or train that may or may not get there on time.
Freedom of movement is freedom! And that’s why the global government crowd doesn’t want you to have it. That’s why they want to take your car away, by hook or by crook. Read all about it in The Hunger Games.
I just read that the Brandon administration is considering pushing a ban on gas stoves. Aside from the matter of tyranny, areas that now have rolling electric outages because of bans on fossil fuels depend on gas stoves for cooking and heating when the power goes down. In addition …. and here comes something that these geniuses don’t know because they think all food just drops from the sky for them …. it’s almost impossible for Chinese restaurants to prepare food on electric stoves. They need the high flames enveloping the bottom of the wok in order to achieve the “wok hei” that gives the food an authentic flavor. Even home gas stoves can’t reach that intensity of flame, although some stoves can approach it. On electric stoves, as I’ve discovered to my sorrow in my current apartment, it’s almost impossible to reach the appropriate heat.
To say nothing of how bloody much it costs! Plus there are things a cook simply can’t do on an electric stove.
When Trent Lott retired from the Senate, he expressed astonishment at how much things cost. As a senator, he didn’t have to pay for anything.
These jidrools in Congress don’t know what things cost to ordinary people, and don’t care.
Nobody comes home poor from Capitol Hill.
For the first few years after we moved to the Philippines, if we traveled anywhere outside of our city, we had to take a bus or van, which would take us to most places we needed to go. Of course, in the vans, they packed the passengers in just like sardines. But some of the buses were air-conditioned, very nice, and lots of room.
The cost was low, but the time it took was double, then driving your own car or van. And when arriving at the city where your appointment was, you still needed to get a taxi or other transportation to get where you needed to go.
Yes, your own vehicle gives you a lot of freedom and saves a bunch of time.
