You said you wanted it!
They wanted to be a sanctuary city. They wanted to be a sanctuary state. They said so again and again.
Now the bill comes due, and they don’t like it!
Several New York State legislators are working on a “migrant tax”… because it’s expected to cost some $12 billion, over the next three years, to take care of illegal aliens who have come flooding into the state in general and New York City in particular (https://nypost.com/2023/09/16/socialists-eye-new-taxes-to-pay-for-migrants/). The legislators–honk if you’ve heard this before–label this “making the wealthy to pay their fair share” [12,000 horns immediately sound]. Mayor Adams is having fits over it: he doesn’t know how the city will be able to sustain the costs.
Democrats, you asked for this! Yeah, I know–it was always going to be somebody else’s state, somebody else’s city, that got lumbered with the care and feeding of illegal aliens… while you, in your state and city, enjoyed the luxury of cost-free virtue signalling.
Only now it turns out not to be cost-free, after all.
Who you gonna call? Joe Biden?
Make sure you wear galoshes when you have to use the sidewalks.
Wow, what a brilliant move
They asked for it!
What a fiasco!
Good one, Lee. Arkansas just had a special session in which taxes were cut for corporations (so we can compete with surrounding states), and for individuals who make under $90,000 a year. Further cuts were made in State Income Tax rates as we aim for zero like Fl & TX. And boy did the Democrats howl over this. They want more taxes for their welfare programs – and what is new about that.
Their support for illegal immigration is going to bite them in the tuchas, but good.
Undoubtedly.
When you fund welfare programs, its never enough, more is always needed. Those kinds of programs never work. Of course, they do feed hungry people, but the numbers always grow and grow and the problems get bigger and bigger…evil plans and ideas by Democrats always make everything worse.
Their evil ideas bore fruit, but its not good fruit. They sowed bad seed and got what they sowed, a great bounty of misery.
Paul the Apostle had a good idea II Thess. 3:10 “For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.”
The church used to provide welfare, the correct way, and it worked well, but hand it off to government, what a big costly mess.
